Coors Funding the Heritage Society

Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a right-wing think tank. Its stated mission is to formulate and promote public policies based on the principles of “free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.”[1] It is widely considered one of the world’s most influential public policy research institutes. The Foundation wields considerable influence in Washington DC, and enjoyed particular prominence during the Reagan administration. Its initial funding was provided by Joseph Coors, of the Coors beer empire, and Richard Mellon Scaife, heir of the Mellon industrial and banking fortune.

Advance Colorado

This organization acts as an “idea incubator” focused on limited government, taxation, and individual prosperity. It advocates for common-sense solutions to state challenges while emphasizing economic opportunity and freedom.

Based in Denver, it is the state’s oldest and most prominent free-market, libertarian think tank. Its mission is to empower individuals and promote policies that enhance personal and economic freedom. Key focus areas include education reform, Second Amendment rights, and fiscal policy through its opposition to government spending.

Common Sense Institute (CSI): While describing itself as non-partisan, CSI is often categorized alongside right-of-center and libertarian organizations for its focus on the protection and promotion of Colorado’s economy through free enterprise. It provides research on the economic impacts of state legislation.
